1. A fertile plain, with rich, dark soil extending from Georgia through central Alabama and on to Mississippi. Most notable agriculturally in cotton production.

2. A region in the Deep South with a high population of African Americans.

3. The highest proficiency in a martial art; that is, a spiritual discipline in which the unarmed practitioner seeks to disarm, de-fang, de-escalate an aggressor. The trained, meditative practitioner seeks to redirect the aggressor’s force using his own skill to achieve a peaceful outcome.
